NHPHC had so much fun tubing the Saco last
year that we’re doing it again this year! The date is Saturday, July 26 at 10AM
at Northern Extremes in North Conway. The cost for tubing is $11 per person and
that includes the tube rental, a shuttle from base camp to where we go in the
river, then a shuttle ride back to base camp when we’re done. The price also
includes $1 tube insurance fee just in case any of the tubes get popped!
(Without the insurance a popped or damaged tube would cost $25.) There will be
dry bags and floating coolers at Northern Extremes available for rent for $5
each (no glass bottles are allowed on the river.) The trip is approximately 3
miles long and could take us anywhere from 3 – 6 hours to finish. There are
sandy beaches, rope swings and all kinds of places for us to picnic along the
route!
(A couple helpful things we learned last
year on the river: wear waterproof shoes with some kind of back to them. Flip
flops could end up going down the river with the current! Also, Target and
K-Mart have some pretty neat cooler floats that work out great! Cheap, too!)

This year we’re going camping, too! We’ll
be staying at Tamworth Family Campground from Friday, July 25 through Sunday,
July 27. The cost for camping is $35 per adult for the weekend. Kids stay
free! There’s a “Make Your Own Sundae” event going on at the campground
Saturday night that I’m pretty sure most of us will make it
to!
This is a family friendly event, all ages
are welcome. Rain or shine. Join us for the weekend or just a lazy ride down
the river. Please respond to BJ at
socialdirector@nhphc.com by July 1 if you’ll be coming along or if you need
more info. It’s going to be a great time – we hope to see you there!
